Increase the number of DeKalb County adults participating in continuous learning opportunities to enhance basic and occupational skills.

Current status
  • The most recent data reports that 11.6% of DeKalb County adults (18-64 yrs.) are without a high school diploma or equivalency, increasing 8.2% from 2012. (IN Business Research Center, 2015; ACS, 2013).

  • Promoted and participated in the 2016 DeKalb Chamber Career Expo; 96 high school juniors and seniors plus 35 adults attended.
  • Tracking key indicators of high school completion and career preparation, college participation and success, and the number of certificates and advanced certifications earned annually by DeKalb County residents. See attached dashboards.
  • Researched the annual BCA (Building Contractors Association of Northeast IN) Construction Career Academy, an under-utilized resource for DeKalb County high school juniors and seniors interested in the construction trades.
