Parenting Education: Why It Matters

DeKalb County Facts

  • DeKalb County demographics are changing. Poverty is increasing as manufacturing jobs are lost.
  • The number of children in need of services cases identified by the Department of Children’s Services increased from 95 in 2008 to 140 in 2011, an increase of 47%.

As a result of focusing on early learning, kindergarten to 12th grade education and adult learning, DeKalb County residents can expect higher rates of employment, increased per capita income, greater success for children, increased voter participation and enhanced civic engagement.
