clipper-20140501-1Garrett High School senior Corey New, left, was recognized at the Learning Link community meeting Tuesday for his work on the kindergarten readiness calendar that will be distributed around DeKalb County. The calendar is used as part of the Learning Link’s Early Childhood Team’s efforts to connect with those students preparing for kindergarten in the fall. New’s interactive media teacher Monica Cone, right, accepted an award on behalf of Garrett High School for being the county school with the most community connections using the Learning Link guest speaker list. Garrett had more than 50 documented hours of community connections with business leaders from around the county throughout this school year.
